ha. and I, who work out a lot of things together as a kind of 'Root Parliament' of the Eng. Committee, have some pretty definite ideas on future possibilities in the inlet pipe line.
Suppose instead of our two somewhat ugly exhaust boxes one had a dualized exhaust box, corresponding to the front silencer with upward bends at the exhaust ports & the downtake forward.
The carburetter & induction pipe would then be on the L.H. side of the engine under the ex. manifold, and the steering could be on the L.H. side without turning the engine inside out.
The magneto will have to go sooner or later, because (a) it is very expensive considering the drive as well.
(b) It is N.G. for ignition as compared with a good battery outfit, because it works on such a thin margin between, poor slow running, & sparking at the gap.
(c) It cannot be properly synchronized with the other ignition.
(d) It is noisy as compared with a battery ignition outfit.
(e) It is another thing to go wrong.
So we picture something like this:-
