For the attention of Mr. N.J.G.Hill.

Dear Sirs,

With reference to Mr. Hill's visit to these Works.

We are concerned about the cost of the rotary pump and would like your quotation as soon as possible. We confirm that we have no objection to general use of our design, if this will help to bring the price down, except on private motor cars. As the number of units you would sell on private cars would be small, this proviso is not unduly limiting.

We have, of course, given you a print of our design without first protecting it, contrary to our usual custom, but we are sure that we shall not regret this confidence.

We would much prefer the pump unit to be made in aluminium and we imagine heavy vehicle makers will also appreciate the weight saving since they continually struggle to keep all their weights low.

Yours faithfully,
for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
