P.2. BODY BOOMS.

You will see by R.4/M25.3.31. that R.{Sir Henry Royce} consideres removing the rear engine feet from 18-EX. car at Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence brought up other troubles which were worse than the improvement which is obtained.

It is evident from R's. memo's that 18-EX. car is not suffering from the booms which are being complained of. We should like your views on whether you have been able to notice any disadvantage on your car since we removed the rear engine feet some time ago. We have since applied this cure to Lord Herbert Scott's car, and also 129-GN. We consider the improvement as regards reducing booms is very great and the increase in frame movement not very noticeable.

We want to press on with a scheme of removing the rear engine feet because it represents the minimum alteration and expense. In the case of L.H.S's car we have fixed an extra stave in the side of the carrier which satisfactorily overcomes the movement of the spare wheel when the rear engine feet are removed.

We are carrying on our investigations but we should like a special note made on the three cars you have got in London to see whether you can notice the disadvantages pointed out by R.{Sir Henry Royce} in the above memo.
