R.R. 493A (40 H) (EL 12 12-7-23). J.H. D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} X.4256 EXPERIMENTAL REPORT Expl. No. X.4256 REF. Hsl/LG1.12.23. To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to CJ. c. to Rg.{Mr Rowledge} c. to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} 20 HP. REAR AXLE. We have tested a set of gears made in C.H.N.S. in which the tooth of the pinion has been left thicker at the expense of the crown wheel teeth. The pinion teeth are .025" thicker than standard. We have run this axle for 50 hours on maximum torque - 1st. speed. At this period the thrust race for the pinion failed. The gear teeth on the pinion had not broken but, they were cracked. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
