C.2. SERIES. CROSS STEERING LEVERS. PIECE NOS. G.74862 & 74861.

There is a question as to whether it may not be necessary to modify the above levers with the object of permitting us to fit dampers on the brake drums to overcome squeaking, which appears to be more persistent on the lightened front axle than on the present standard.

Will the Works kindly let us know whether it is possible to hold up work on these parts without endangering out-put, and if so, how long can they give us to enable us to try and settle the problem.

There is a very great possibility of being able to overcome the trouble by modifying the facing for the shoe, that is, the type of Ferodo material used. If this should be satisfactory, then existing parts are O.K. If not, then there is no doubt at all but that the present scheme would ultimately prove unsatisfactory in the customer's hands, and we shall have to do something.
