| Hoob. To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re Continental Test B-V.{VIENNA} Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}8/E14339 Copy to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}EY. Referring to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Br.2/13.3.39 I was very much interested to note the contents and in particular the last paragraph. I suggest that it might be advisable to review immediately the results to the end of the first 25,000 miles and then, when the 50,000 are completed, review the second half. I should like to see in connection with this a summary of the failures in the first half and the action that has been taken to deal with them. I do not query the items as they go through on the daily reports but I think it is important that we should get down on paper exactly what failures there have been and what the remedies will be. For instance in one of the reports that I have seen during the last few days - (this would come in the second half) - there was reference to rear axle shaft failures and having had serious trouble with this on the existing Bentley we are naturally concerned.
