CHILDS 6065. To Lks c. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. Rn.{Mr Robinson} c. W/LH.{Mr Haworth} (JLE{J. Lee Evans - Chassis Test Manager}). BY/RD.4/B.14.4.38. RE: SPEEDOMETERS. With reference to memo' LAG/T.13.4.38. and the complaint of noisy speedometer drives; we agree that it was decided to move the distribution board and regulator to the offside of the board. A scheme of this was prepared and instructed to the Experimental Department 21.9.37. We are unable to issue the necessary production instructions for this, since there has, apparently, been no opportunity yet, to try out the new arrangement on the Phantom III experimental car, and we understand that until 39-EX is in a condition to be road tested, the matter remains in abeyance.
