MINUTES OF CONFERENCE AT DERBY TO DISCUSS, AMONGST OTHER THINGS, IMPROVEMENTS TO BE INCLUDED IN THE NEXT MATERIAL SANCTIONS FOR THE BENTLEY CAR - MAY 1ST 1934.

Present. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Nm. E/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey} - Db.{Donald Bastow - Suspensions} present at aero section.

Minute No 1

Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} said that the question to be settled was what improvements could be incorporated on C.. series Bentley cars.

Material to be ordered - Material for 200 sets must be ordered immediately, and the first cars of this series would be delivered to test 22 weeks from now (i.e. the last week in September). Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} pointed out that it was desirable, owing to the high rate of production, to incorporate only features that were already cleared for standardisation with the possible exception of controlled shock dampers, which feature was required at the earliest possible moment. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} dealt with the items on page (1) of E/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey}3/HP. 30.4.34 (a copy of which was handed to him by R).

Discussion on these items followed and agreement was reached on the following improvements to be incorporated in the whole of 'C' series:-

(1) Oil sump drain plug at side of crankcase bottom half (LeC.3735).
(2) Spherical bearings on brake equaliser shafts. N. Sch's.3887/3912/3932.
(3) Strengthened transverse pivot lean front axle incorporating 3 bolter bottom flange and strengthened top pivot bearing.
(4) Modified bonnet rests on radiator side strips - LeC.3773.
(5) Modification to prevent bonnet side plates rattling - LeC.3830.
(6) Clutch parts - See minute 2.

Considerable discussion ensued with regard to controlled shock dampers, at the conclusion of which it was agreed to order 100 sets of material on this
