To Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AJL. c.c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} X 3117 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AJL1/LG3.11.27. 'SAMSON OILIC' HYDRAULIC JACK. With reference to ROY{Sir Henry Royce}/GEA5/EB27.10.27. The Samson 'Oilic' jack sent to us for test purposes has the following dimensions :- Phantom chassis requirements. Minimum height............ 6.00" 6.25" Initial hand adjustment.... 2.00" 2.75" Hydraulic lift............ 5.300 7.50" Maximum height............13.30" 16.50" Weight of jack & handle.... 12.75 lbs. This jack does not conform to any of the models described in the pamphlet and has no identification mark except the number 91 stamped on the jack base. The jack appears very efficient over the range it covers, and at present no oil leaks from it. The range however falls a good deal short of our requirements for the Phantom chassis and for this reason is of no real use to us; it is also rather too heavy.
