Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} F.{Mr Friese} Hl. Rg{Mr Rowledge}3/LW.20. 12. 29 Hl. has been testing bearing metals on the rig which he has used for oil tests. He is doing some good work and will no doubt soon be sending a report giving you full details. The object is to get a bearing material with a higher tensile strength than white metal for use in conjunction with a hardened shaft. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} is going to try this material in the big ends of a 20 H.P. engine on a nitro-alloy shaft which they have, to obtain a first confirmation of the Laboratory's rig tests.
