Unit for 2-B-IV Chassis.

We have handed 2-B-IV chassis over to the Repair Dept. to remove the unit, which is experimental.

The unit at present in the chassis is Y-4-BB which has an experimental flywheel and clutch on it.

The unit we want fitting to 2-B-IV is B-5, which was originally removed from the car. This has an up-to-date clutch and flywheel with the heavier cover plate. The cover plate should be removed and replaced by a standard one.

The engine has lead bronze bearings, which of course is what we require for this chassis. All the other parts appear to be standard with the exception of Textolite timing gears, and the cylinder head and induction pipe. We should like the cylinder head and induction pipe replaced by standard parts. The pistons have done a considerable mileage and could with advantage be chalk tested.

We suggest that the Repair Dept. should deal with this unit. They should have some standard cylinder heads available which have been changed where high compression heads have been fitted. There will certainly be one available from Mr. Fairey's car when he has a high compression head.
