X. 3062 - VALVE TEST RIG

Eagle Valve Gear.

X.3132 The valves were a set which had been fitted with cap nuts but we had altered them and fitted the taper
X. 86 plugs. This left two holes for the split pin in the end (CSY?)
X.2925 of the valve. Latest spring washers made to Lec.784 were fitted.

Hours run. | Engine revs. per min: | Remarks.
50 | 2500 | 1 Valve Spring broken 2 Split Pin ends broken off.
3 | 2800 | 3 Valve-springs broken Rivets holding roller pins all loose 1 broken.

(CSY?) We consider we should adopt the washer made to Lec.784 as soon as possible.

The valve springs on the Eagle VIII valve gear vibrate more than the old ones. At 1700 revs: some of them commence to vibrate and they keep it on up to the highest speed.

We are sending one of the rivets to Mr. Syce
It appears as though the inertia of the washer on the head has loosened it. They are not a very satisfactory job, being so long, they bend when being rivetted.
