File To By.... from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}20/N.30.11.37. Re: Bentley - Pistons. You will have seen and read RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}'s memo RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}2/MJ.26.11.37, re Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}'s memo Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}10/MW.24.11.37. I have replied to RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} denying my responsibility in telling Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} to supply the latest type piston to Depots. In fact as soon as the first set of new type pistons were sent to Kingsbury, I took the matter up, as I forsaw that if we were not careful, complications may arise that would cause more trouble. In my interview with you, re the pistons, you will agree that I was against the fitting of the new pistons and said that we should keep to the type fitted to the engine that came in for attention. Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} has committed me because when I asked him whether he was fitting the new pistons (which he knew nothing about and didn't know whether they were fitting them or not) I enlightened him, by saying that Kingsbury were receiving the new type, whether or not the Works were going to keep on supplying these pistons I was not aware. This happened before the changes in the Staff took place, and I might say that, no one was looking after the complaints as should have been. I have at no time taken the responsibility of giving definite instructions without first consulting you or Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} and Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}'s memo is in my opinion a very wrong impression on the Works I have endeavoured to carry out. I should appreciate your views, with regard to the piston job, as I repeatedly tried to get the matter squared up. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} | ||
