8.28 HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} c. By/NS.{Norman Scott} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry{Shadwell Grylls}3/R.17.10.38. B.50 GEARBOX. We should like all the six new gearboxes that you are building to incorporate the 55° cam angle stiffened top and overdrive cones. These have been detailed to EXS.1114, 1115 and 1117. We should like one set of parts for test of the stiffened second speed synchromesh to drawings EXS.1112, 1113, 1116 and 1118. If possible we should like all these modifications in the next box we have for test. We had a talk to Reid the other day about the noise of the first speed gears. He has promised to put through a pair in the Works, using every wile to make them quiet. Can we also have these in the next gearbox ? Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
