X5670 EFC2/AD. 12th February, 1930. The Morgan Crucible Co.Ltd. Battersea Works, Church Rd. S.W.1. Dear Sirs, X8673 [strikethrough] Brush Grades for our Phantom II X5670 and 20 HP. chassis dynamos. As you are aware our present standard on both of the above machines is your EG.2 grade, this having been the nearest grade in similarity to Le Carbone Z. grade which EG.2 has replaced. We are a little troubled with brush noisiness of the EG.2 grade. You have also submitted to us sample brushes in EG.6630 grade and these have been bench tested and will now be run on a prolonged test on an experimental car. They appear to be an improvement from the noise point of view, but it remains to be seen whether they are an improvement all round. Looking over your lists of grades, it appears to us that your Link 5. Morganite or your Link HM.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}5. hard Morganite would be alternative suitable grades particularly in view of the silence required. Before however, placing with you an order for sample sets of brushes in these grades we would prefer to have your remarks on this proposal for experiment as you may have some reason which may suggest the futility of testing these suggested grades. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
