X3117 Experimental Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Eid.11/KT. August 30th 1933. C.R. Acton Esq., Fern Cottage, Clay Hill, Lyndhurst. Dear Sir, re. Four Wheel Jacking System. In reply to your letter of the 29th inst, we do not think your scheme of jacking could ever be of any use to us. To be candid, it does not appear fundamentally possible to jack up a complete car from a single point on the chassis; it is highly improbable that you will find a solution to the problems that will confront you if you persist with your present idea. Our advice to you is to forget the turntable entirely, and if you still wish to use up your energy on jacking systems, put on the market a very light, cheap, and reliable jacking system, fixed to the front and rear axles and operated from the driver's seat. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
