BENTLEY MOTORS. (SERVICE DEPOT)
KINGSBURY, LONDON.

Visited 11.7.35, by H.J.Egginton, Designs Dept, Birmingham.

Mr. Hammond, Service Depot, Acton Vale.

P.100 S HEADLAMPS.

The above Depot was visited by arrangement with Mr. West of Derby.

The visit was made to ascertain the troubles which were being experienced with the above lamps and to offer suggestions which would enable them to rectify the trouble without sending the complete lamps to Service Depots for overhaul.

The chief trouble about which they were concerned was the lack of clearance between the reflector and extension rim upon some of the older lamps, and the consequent failure to operate the dipping reflector.

Mr. Horsley (Bentley Motors) was under the impression that the present reflectors which are fitted with a strengthened action bracket, were different in dimension to the older reflectors and that a new reflector would give greater clearance than the older ones if fitted to one of the older lamps.

The cause of the lack of clearance in the older lamps was explained, and that existing lamps had a greater clearance, due to modifying the body, etc.,

Mr. Horsley then asked for supplies of the strengthened action bracket. It was explained that the brackets would be no use unless they could be assembled properly to the reflector, and that a complete reflector would be much better. It was mentioned that the action bracket would require a slight modification for fitting into some of the older lamps to give the required clearance. Mr. Horsley and Mr. Pike agreed to make the modification if found necessary.
