| x2-36. To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from E/JNK. c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Sft{Mr Swift}-Hly. E/JNK.1/HP.20.12.33. Bentley Exhaust Suspension. In view of one of the four spring pads holding the expansion boxes coming adrift on the last 10,000 miles test, we think these should be secured by standard castle nuts. In the case of the tail pipe link there is only room for a special castle nut G.4801 and of course deleting the grover washer. We suggest a note should be added to the arrangement drawing EB.1155 calling attention to the fitting up of the links. The thackeray washer should be tightened and then slackened off half a turn before split pinning. We are surprised to find that production cars are going through with the rear expansion box suspended to LeC.3630. This was intended only for the first 15 chassis, the saddles being expensive to make. LeC.3527 is the correct scheme and should be ordered for the next series. E/JNK. | ||
