To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} ---------- c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ---------- X154 E.3/HP.15.11.32 re Peregrine Valves. ------------------- The Peregrine valves originally were so arranged that the exhaust valve was larger than the inlet as regards the head, but the stems were of the same size. Owing to lack of low speed turbulence it was later decided to reduce the diameter of the inlet valve head, and make it the same size as the exhaust, and a new detail drawing was issued on these lines. Unfortunately this leaves us in the position that the valves can be assembled wrongly - that is - the exhaust valves will go in the inlet ports and vice versa. We think to overcome this trouble the exhaust valve stems should be increased say .032" in diameter. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
