I do not feel, however, that the K.L.G. plug is a suitable plug for use on the 40/50 car except for the p pocket position, but it does not appear to show any direct advantage as regards ordinary road conditions over the Lodge C.9. which is a much cheaper Plug. It is, however, disastrous to use K.L.G. plugs for the intermediate position as this is essentially a plug which is good for pre-ignition, but rather poor for isolation.

Generally speaking, the ideal plug we require is one which is poor from an isolation point of view, i.e. easily conducts heat from the centre electrode to the body and does not therefore overheat and cause pre-ignition, but at the same time must be a good insulator, and does not therefore easily oil up or pre-ignite.

So far a plug of this type is not procurable, and it must be realised therefore that a compromise must be made by obtaining a plug which suits the conditions under which it works.
