RE-GOSHAWK BONNET.

We find that to keep the RR. bonnet with it's purity of shape is probably a little more difficult than anticipated, and the drawings have not yet been sent to Derby pending the best compromise that we could make.

It is now proposed that we raise the radiator 1" and the back of the bonnet about ¼", and the side of the hinges of the bonnet will be inclined less namely, instead of ½; it will be ¼".

I noticed on some RR. cars, and others, that vertical louvres were fitted in front of the radiator, and that this type did not detract from the appearance of the car.

We are at present preparing to fit louvres in the Goshawk behind the radiator, the advantage being that we get a longer appearance in the bonnet, and we are able to use a muffler in the case of extremely cold weather, or a rug when standing for a long time.

We send a print of the proposed alterations. I have suggested that this may not look so nice in wood as the real metal one of the present proportion because it will be wooden looking; don't let this influence you. I feel sure it will be better all round as the lines favour elegance.
