POPPING IN THE EXHAUST ON NEW PHANTOMCodename for PHANTOM I. X8230

In regard to the popping in the exhaust, it is all a question of degree. We do not know how to make a car with the present design which will never popp in the exhaust. In fact we do not know how to prevent popping in the exhaust without introducing some other fault. We have never made a car which did not suffer from this complaint.

We have made 2 modifications since the first Phantoms to reduce this complaint -
(1) is the new silencer.
(2) the improved governor control.

If cars fitted with these latest parts are still complained of, then we certainly recommend you should put it up to R.{Sir Henry Royce}
