X5840e Exptl: Dept: Messrs. Rolél-Royce Ltd., Derby. 21st. Jan. 1929. Hotel de France, Chateauroux, Indre, France. X3806 Mr. Hancock from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} We do not think it necessary to make a very extensive report on the 20 HP. at the completion of 10,000 miles seeing that we have already had reports after 3000 miles and 7500 miles. You should only report any fresh points which have arisen. We have had an interview with the Bijur representatives and they point out that their recommendations are that the pump should always be operated on the car the first thing in the morning before the engine is started. This is to ensure that all the points are of the same temperature. They recommend that every morning the pump is given one stroke. In addition a further stroke is given every 100 miles. They also point out that it is a mistake to use thin oil. They are going to let us have particulars of the oil they recommend but in the meantime they recommend you use 'Vacuum 'BB'. Another point they make is that for the system to operate reasonably well, the pump should take 5 to 10 mins. to return to the normal position. It is probable we may arrange for the people who are handling the Bijur in England to come out to Chateauroux in order to observe the results we are getting contd :- | ||
