To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} √4573 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}11/KW.20.9.34. CAR WORK GENERAL. Owing to pressure from the SpectreCodename for Phantom III and the two Bentley chassis you are at present building we have got rather behindhand on keeping our Experimental cars up-to-date generally, and we should therefore be glad if you would do what you can to clean up the various jobs enumerated below. Most of these parts have been instructed from time to time but this is intended to be a summary of the jobs requiring attention. 21-G-IV has of course already been instructed, also 5-B-IV. The SpectreCodename for Phantom III is omitted as its requirements will vary from day to day. 18-G-IV. This car should be brought up to the last 10,000 miles specification as far as possible. The main items are :- (1) Rubber engine mounting. (2) Flexible exhaust system mounting. (3) Harrison radiator, Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Std.4/MA.10.9.34. (4) Silencer as on 20-G-IV (Exhaust). (5) Standard flywheel having Bentley inertia, as instructed for the next series production cars. (6) Anti-synchromesh rattle in gearbox. (7) Propellor shaft damper. (8) Clutch and flywheel to Bentley L.O.P's GB.536, spring centre deleted. 20-G-IV. This is waiting for two items to clear production. (1) Spring loaded clutch pedal link of correct length, M.Sch.4181. (2) Correct autovac connecting pipe. (3) Manifold to Lec.4099, Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager}8/KW.14.9.34. | ||
