X.83.14 The following are a few particulars of the "Buick" car. Further particulars will be sent on. The Car is fitted with an Open Touring 5 seater Body with Hood and Wind Screen. The weight of the car without passengers is - Rear 1608 lbs. Front 1258 lbs. Size of road wheels - 815 x 105. They are fitted with over-size tyres - 815 x 120 105 The back axle ratio is 3.75 to 1. It is fitted with Spiral Bevel Gears. It is excellent as regards absence of noise under all conditions. The back axle is controlled by a torque tube which at the front end is connected to a universal joint instead of a sphere. There are two diagonal stays leading from the torque tube to the rear brake brackets. The ratios of the gears are:- 1st. 3.3 to 1 ) 2nd. 1.6 to 1 ) - of the direct drive. Reverse 4.52 to 1 ) The springing in the front is an ordinary semi-elliptic. There are cantilever springs on the rear. The riding of the car is not good. The radiator is a corrugated tube type - it weighs - Empty - 44 lbs. It holds 14. galls. of water. The depth of the radiator is 2.5". The H.P. of the chassis on the dynamometer is:- Contd. W.T.COY.
