Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re 104-MY. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}10/E10.7.34 In view of the fact that I shall be using 20-G-4 for my holiday, I could let you have 104-MY, if any good purpose would be served thereby. The principal thing I have in mind is the adjustable valve tappets of the type we are proposing to adopt. In Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/KW.30.5.34 and in a former memo. it was agreed that it was not much use my having the Halford tappets if we did not intend to use them on the 40/50 but that you would let me know as soon as you had a set of Cadillac tappets ready for my car, and if, as I understand, it is this type that you have fitted to 28-EX, it might be worth fitting them to 104-MY. I do not, however, want something unless their test and development have proved that it is likely to be a real advantage, but by the earlier part of August you ought presumably to have some results from 28-EX. If the car does come to Derby, I should like at the same time to have the 12/41 ratio fitted to the back axle instead of 11/41 and the engine decarbonised because, unless you have done it on one of its former visits, it has not been done and has now covered an approximate mileage of 10,908 miles. The other two things that you might think it advisable to put on are the rubber engine mounting and the riding control rod as on 28-EX. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} | ||
