Hallam - Head Repairs} & E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} dated 26.5.37 :- "Porosity shake casting out of mould minimum time say twenty five minutes after casting. Copious core vents of progressively increasing area essential wax vents ineffective Bujoks pour 2550 to 2750 material thirty per cent steel forging scrap two point three silicon point one six sulphur point one seven phosphorus point six seven manganese point three chromium point four carbon point two five nickel. Cores one hundred and fifty gallons sharp sand thirty gallons bank sand twenty two pints sixty per cent linseed base oil. Pour with maximum gravity head. Buick forty cores and sample block despatched to-day note ties between barrels to reduce distortion to half thousandth send covering order and Bentley core and block casting attention Golden Buick. Address Royce Inskip us Detroit Athletic Club Buick casting less than one quarter inch water between cylinders twenty seven hundred blocks daily scrap less than three per cent have heard nothing of Johnson and Brookes nor has Inskip trying to locate."
