With reference to the question of providing more load against sideways deflection on the lever we see that the plunger springs actually used are not the same as instructed on the original N. scheme. There appear to have been reasons for making the alteration. The springs do not seem to give anything like sufficient load though we have no actual information about them.

It appears to us to be necessary to alter the casting and greatly increase the diameter of the plungers. Even so it is difficult to obtain the 4 1/2 lbs. now used on the 20HP. R.H. chassis.
