X3875 ROY{Sir Henry Royce}/MS29/P27.10.27. 27th Oct. 1927. Your ref. JLO/MW. Messrs. The Cambridge Instrument Co.Ltd. Cambridge. Dear Sirs, We are in receipt of yours of 26th instant, and have also received the dummy instrument fitted with two stops, which meets with our approval. Before finally deciding the Question, however, we shall be pleased if you will forward to us (as sample) an instrument fitted with an additional stop, so that we may test same. It occasionally happens that a client overheats the circulating water to such an extent that the needle pointer goes beyond the 100°, and it may be possible for the pointer to hit the stop, in which case we presume it would either slip on the spindle or damage the internal mechanism. For this reason we would prefer to carry out tests before coming to a final decision. We are returning the sample instrument to you to-day. Yours faithfully, For ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
