1026. Experimental Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.5/MH.{M. Huckerby} 11th. October 1938. Messrs. Hallam, Sleigh & Cheston Ltd., Widney Works, Bagot Street, BIRMINGHAM, 4. For the attention of Mr.Booth. Dear Sirs, With regard to the question of using your Widney hinge on our various chassis, this necessitates a special bonnet eye as you know, which is shaped to accommodate your hinge, and we should like to know (a) whether you are in the habit of supplying bonnet eyes with hinges on bonnets of other firms. (b) Whether you can let us have drawings on any such standard eyes which you may supply. We ask this because we understand from our Drawing Office people that you gave them a drawing of the eye which you used when they first started applying this hing on our cars. If you supply such eyes will you please quote us for them in quantities of 200. If you do not supply eyes of this type can you give us any idea as to the method of construction used by other people using your hinge, i.e. pressings, machinings, forgings, foldings, etc. We should be very glad if you would treat this matter as urgent. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
