Certain bench tests of this magneto have been made since its removal from chassis 7-GII. The lowest speeds at which regular sparking occurred on 5.5 mm. gaps in air in the advanced, central, and retarded positions, (hand range) were 260 r.p.m., 250 r.p.m. and 280 r.p.m. respectively. This is somewhat better than the first (smaller) AM-6-A Sintilla machine, but not as good as the second AM-6-A, which is now on 93-NK. This would suggest that the low speed sparking characteristics suffer in use. The magneto was also tested at high speeds for regular sparking on 5.5 mm. gaps in air and was found to be quite O.K. It should be stated that though the design of the larger and smaller machines is identical on general lines, nevertheless the smaller machine is somewhat more compact and of neater appearance, and would not give the impression of clumsiness observed on the AG-6-A machine.
