X8770 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} To EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} from CJ: Copy to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Copy to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Copy to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 'V' Series. I understand that you have notified Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} and BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} of changes which should be made in the 'V' Series chassis and that Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} has now shown you the memorandum in which I laid it down that BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} was not to pass to the factory any further alterations in the 'V' Series unless an alteration is necessary because some part of the 'V' chassis is likely to fail and may endanger life or unless the alteration affects the over-oiling of the servo, the firing in the exhaust, the overheating of water, stiffness of steering and the harshness of front springs. Your position, therefore, is perfectly clear. It seems to me that your right course is to bring before BJ and me any alterations in design which you consider necessary and to state why you consider them necessary, what delay in delivery will be entailed by their adoption. BY was perfectly right to resist your wishes in connection with the instrument board. CJ. | ||
