RE UNION NUTS.

There are at present approximately fifty S/S. BZ/S. and S/N. union nuts used on chassis water and petrol connections, which it is considered would function equally well at reduced cost, if produced from S/M, oil pipe union nuts being already in this material.

These nuts are fitted to the pipes before brazing the unions, and in many cases are automatically plated along with the finished pipe. The stainless steel nuts at present used, are incidentally unsuitable for nickel depositing which gives rise to complaints of plating peeling off.

The question of corrosion should not arise because the nuts do not come into contact with the liquid in the pipes, and, furthermore, in certain places S/N. union nuts are already used on the petrol system.

We attach hereto a list of the nuts involved, also alternative piece numbers of S/M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} nuts.
