Ds. To Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} From R. {Sir Henry Royce} BY. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} (Le Candel). X235 R4/M82.4.26. Rec'd at WW evening of 26.4.26. RE HYDRAULIC SHOCK DAMPERS PROGRESSIVE DEVELOPEMENT -X.235. I am rather inclined to favour restricted vent on both sides with back pressure valve, because then - (1) No fear of locked air anywhere. (2) Permits double valve in piston concentric(simple body etc.) (3) Car continually righting itself from either side of normal - i.e. not wanting for maximum force to overcome valve. (4) Passages for theabove so small as not to effect rapid damping even with thin oil. R. {Sir Henry Royce} | ||
