With reference to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}5/T.25.4.30.

The work we are doing on Sir Henry Segrave's car was outlined in Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}5/MJ.16.1.30., of which you have a copy.

As we started on the car with a view to getting it ready before Easter, we have not tackled items 1, 4, or 6, mainly because the steering and radiator 'jellying' were by far the worst features on the car. Also they are all production jobs.

We have an order from Major Segrave (attached). Since R.{Sir Henry Royce} would certainly not agree to the existing hydraulics being removed, and we do not think anyone has ever suggested to Sir Henry that this can be done, we do not see that he can expect an allowance on them.

Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} agreed to the work being done in his Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}5/E20.1.30; from this note we understood that you were aware of what was being done. One additional point is that Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} decided to fit the cure for radiator 'jellying' to 80-WJ at the same time as we fitted it to 1-WJ.

This scheme has already done 3,000 miles on 23-EX and is also in France on 24-EX. We have now made this work quite well and it has improved both cars.

It is rather difficult to see that Major Segrave can be expected to pay for anything except the shock absorbers, however we are now booking time separately on the different jobs.
