-4- Pistons & Connecting Rods. The pistons are aluminium castings with hemispherical tops. For the type of engine they have long skirts. Above the gudgeon pin are two gas rings, and then a gas and L ring in the same groove. Half way between the gudgeon pin and bottom of skirts is a further similar double ring. The connecting rods are steel, machined all over, and have loose whitemetalled shells. The gudgeon pin is located by a set screw in the small end of the rod. Clutch. This is multiplate, of about 9" mean diameter. Three driving plates splined in the flywheel to which the Ferodo is rivetted are made of dural. Supercharger. Two blade Rootes type, driven at crankshaft speed. We hope to get information of compression ratio, boost pressure, and valve lift curves shortly. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/H.{Arthur M.
