X.4338 - GOSHAWK ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Items required to make up bench demonstration

set of the system:-

Battery - either Exide 6XR3, CAV-Willard 12XR2 or P & R.TBD7. (Also battery box if desired).

Oil immersed starter motor switch and mechanism for operating same on bench.

RR. Goshawk starter motor complete with bendix drive.

" " combined distribution board and cutout, containing fuses of the system.

Weston 20-0-20 ampere battery charge and discharge ammeter.

RR. Goshawk lockable switchbox, tohether with key and inspection lamp plug.

A suitable bare earthing conductor running round the bench, to which earthing connections may be made.

Gauge lamp arranged, say, to illuminate ammeter and electrically connected between gauge lamp terminal on switchbox and earthing conductor.

Switch and lamp to represent body lighting, connected in series between distribution board and earthing conductor.

Push button on steering column and motor Klaxon in series between distribution board and earthing conductor.

Two sides and one tail lamp in parallel with one another, connected between distribution board and earthing conductor.

Two head lamps in parallel, connected between distribution board and earthing conductor.

Ignition system, comprising RR. Goshawk ballast resistance, RR. Goshawk ignition coil, and RR. Goshawk combined contact breaker and distributor, connected one end to distribution board, the framework of the distributor being connected to the earthing conductor.

A set of six sparking plugs, connected in the usual way by H.T. wires to the distributor, the sparking plug bodies being in connectionw with the earthing conductor.

An arrangement whereby the combined contact breaker & distributor can be rotated by hand is suggested.
