Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} X 251 E.7/HP.14.10.36. Superflexit Petrol Piping. Thank you for your memo Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}15/KW.13.10.36. While agreeing that this piping is used for aircraft work I think that for the sake of saving 9d on the Bentley and 1/- on the 25/30 chassis we ought to make a further test and insist that the pipe does not leak. We have examined the sample again and opened it up still further. There is no doubt that the cellophane lining has been leaking sufficiently to soak the outer layers and cause the rubber to rot. We find the Air Ministry tests are now 7 years old, and were made on samples of Superflexit tubing received from France. We also find certain differences between our tested sample and the specification given in Report E.2861. I, therefore, think further tests are necessary, E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
