Dear Mr. Skinner,

Thank you for your letter of May 21st., and the patent specification attached thereto which I will pass on to our agents.

You may be pleased to know that during the last day or so Sir Henry Royce has agreed that we may use the S.U. carburetter for anything that we may produce in the way of a Bentley, and for this reason I should be glad to have any information with regard to the use of your carburetters with superchargers i.e. carburetter to be on the suction side of the blower. Is it necessary to take any precautions in fitting, and what size of carburetter would you recommend for engines of 1½ and 2½ litres capacity respectively, to be run at between 7 and 14 lbs. boost?.

I have actually fitted an S.U. petrol lift to Sir Henry's own car and I have told him that the noise of the instrument can be suppressed. The one he is using is a double type and if you have anything to offer us which is quiet, I should be glad to exchange it for the existing double unit we are using.

I do not know whether you have considered fitting a plate filter on the petrol-lift, perhaps the new departure of which you spoke may remove the necessity for this by eliminating the sticking piston, but we find that without such a filter we are in danger of getting the plungers scored.
