Dear Sirs,

Herewith are our Designers' criticisms of the float chambers you submitted to us.

We do want to get hold of these modified float chambers because we still get definite trouble with flooding on the existing carburetters. A friend of mine, Mr. Leslie Hawkins, had to be towed in London the other day owing to this trouble.

There is a suggestion that we should fit the Rolls-Royce carburetter, as fitted to the 20/25, to the Bentley, and this I should like to counteract by saying that the known troubles on the existing S.U. carburetter have been dealt with. Therefore I would like your co-operation in dealing with such of these criticisms as you think deserve attention, and submitting float chambers to us with the necessary modifications as soon as possible.

For your information I attach a drawing of a float chamber as fitted to our 20/25.

I am very pleased with the progress you have made with petrol pumps lately, the new diaphragms and the new winding of the solenoid appear to be definite advantages. If only we can maintain a rigid inspection on the quality of the article in production, I feel our complaints will largely cease to exist.

We are still anxiously awaiting the arrival of the steel skirt piston, and shall be glad to know when we may expect these.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
