KNOCKING IN 20 HP. SHOCK ABSORBERS. Y235 / Y5520 With reference to CWB7/GCD30.1.29. The original line our investigations took was to alter the body and shock absorber mounting. We have tried various means of isolating a 20 HP. body with rubber pads but have been unable to eliminate shock absorber noises. We have tried varying the 20 HP. rear shock absorber mounting. We have found nothing however which makes an appreciable improvement without redesigning the shock absorbers. We think that even with the subframe, if we got the right type of body and a customer with highly developed aural faculties, we should still be in trouble. We think that our present programme of dealing solely with the portion of the shock absorber which causes the trouble is the most satisfactory method of overcoming the difficulty and we hope we shall shortly have a permanent cure.
