MIDDLESEX.

For the attention of MR.B.T.Wingfield.

Dear Sirs,

Referring to your letter L/01248.RFA/MHExt.5, 3/5/38, we regret that we have not replied before, but the writer only received it this morning owing to the fact that it was addressed incorrectly (to Mr.Stapleton) instead of to Mr.Steadman. Further, the Mr.G.H.Palmer referred to is Mr.G.H.Farmer, a mistake in name having again occurred.

Mr.Farmer informs the writer that he has some of your bellows under test, but that as yet they have shown no superiority over the rolled type of bellows at present inuse.

The writer himself, (Chassis and not Aero Department) is interested only in buying a complete thermostat unit (as explained to your Mr.Middleton recently) and not individual bellows - such units as are already obtainable from firms such as Messrs.S. Smith & Sons, and the British Thermostat Co. Ltd.

However, we send you herewith a print EB.3509 of a thermostat which we are at present using, and for comparative purposes would like you to quote for supplying these in quantities of 200. The pieces EB.3507/8 and EB.669 to be supplied by us and the complete unit would be built and set by yourselves.

Tomorrow (Tuesday) morning will be quite convenient for Mr.Wingfield to call, but the writer is not sure of being at the works on either Wednesday, Thursday or Friday of this week.

Yours faithfully,

for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
