X6036a CADILLAC MOTOR CAR COMPANY DETROIT, MICHIGAN CADILLAC AND LASALLE MOTOR CARS September 8, 1931. AG Mr. West see me Rg.{Mr Rowledge} Mr. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} W. Hives, Rolls Royce, Limited, Derby, England. My dear Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}: Aircraft Ignition Here is a letter from Mr. Loudon of Delco Aviation Corporation and three folders of their product. I think this gives in full the status quo of aircraft ignition. I know from my last visit to Mr. Loudon that they are achieving unheard of results in weight saving, life, spark frequency, and immunity from vibration trouble, but cannot give exact figures since it might be a breach of confidence. I think it would be well for you to investigate their product. Mr. Loudon speaks freely and since the Delco Aviation and Scintilla are branches of the same concern it is not advisable to circulate this information except for your own internal use. Everyone here is feeling very sore at the outcome of the Harmsworth which I saw through the courtesy of the local Rolls Royce dealer, Leonard-Thomson. There is no doubt that but for a gross breach of the common usages of sport, the Miss England had the cup. However, it also appears that the boat though very stable lengthwise is unstable sideways. Probably they all are, and actually the Miss America IX nearly wrecked the Miss America VIII at the same spot and in the same way on Sunday. Have seen Roy{Sir Henry Royce} Platford and he is all right. I cabled E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} P. last night. Best wishes for the Schneider. Yours, Maurice Olley | ||
