Vs.{J. Vickers} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. HFS. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}15/HL.18.4.41. 25 GUNS FOR THE AIR MINISTRY. B.U.S.M. have suggested that they should machine 25 sets of material for us on their production line for the Air Ministry contract for 25 guns. They already have the material. This sounds such an unusual war-time offer that we certainly feel we ought to take advantage of it. However, the guns supplied to the Air Ministry will, of course, be fully automatic and we should therefore like a specification to be got out of the weapon submitted to the Army. We can then ask B.U.S.M. to machine all the bits which are common with this specification and the Naval gun. If we got a favourable report from the Army as a result of their trials, we ought to have no difficulty in getting the Air Ministry to agree that this is what they want.
