Dear Sirs,

In reference to your letter of the 29th inst., we regret to note that on building up the new axle you were unable to obtain the full amount of lock required. We should be glad, however, if you would let us know at what point fouling occured as according to our layouts the lock should be 39° and 33°.

With regard to the cutting away of the pivot flange this was necessary in order to get sufficient clearance for the tension rod but was, in our opinion, left sufficiently strong.

We note that the car has consequently been delayed in test and that you cannot yet issue any report. We shall await the results of your test with interest.

Yours faithfully,

for NEW HUDSON LTD,
Alex Fraser
MANAGER.
