PHANTOM STEERING - SELF CENTRE-ING SPRING.

[Handwritten, struck through] X8430
Herewith we send N. sch. 2418. shewing an arrangement for experimental purposes of a spring in the steering column to assist the self centre-ing.
We have made use of the larger tube recently instructed.
It is our intention to provide a friction device for the Phantom, and we suggest that Derby should do this by scaling up the arrangement recently sent you for India.
Of the alternative methods of anchoring the spring we wish to use the one having the spring hooked over at each end.
