BENTLEY 5

FB.3826. FRONT SUSPENSION COIL SPRING

Please note the thickness of cadmium plating called for on the above drawing is not considered by H1/EA to be a commercial proposition. Will you, therefore, specify Cadmium Plating .0005 thick (minimum).

The following note should also be added:

"To be examined for cracks and seams by the Makers, and then shot blasted with coarse round shot. Immediately after shot blasting to be covered with grease to prevent oxidization. Prior to plating at R.R. the springs are to be de-greased."

The note "No Cyaniding" is to be altered to "No Cyanide Hardening".

A copy of this note has been sent to Roy{Sir Henry Royce}/AW to enable him to get into touch with the Makers regarding future supplies.

The stock in the Works not dealt with by Memo. BY/NS.{Norman Scott}1/MG.23.6.39 should be returned to the Makers.

Will By/HEB{H. Biraben} please alter the drawing.

A copy of Memo BY/NS.{Norman Scott}1/MG.23.6.39 is attached for RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}/M'C and RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}/WB.{Mr Brazier/Mr Bell}

BY/NS.{Norman Scott} Al

It is very important that the springs shall not be pickled in acid. I trust that this is clear on the drawings
