LONDON. N.W.2.

For the attention of Mr. Russell.

Dear Sirs,

We have had frequent trouble with the screws on the petrol gauge tank units becoming loose. This appears to be due to the bedding down of the cork jointing washers under pressure. Could you supply us with a harder material for these washers which will not bed down.

Using a harder material it may be necessary to increase the thickness of the cover plate and flange, as the spacing of the screws, is very wide especially in the flange of the tank. We would be glad if you would supply us with a Bentley or Phantom III unit fitted with different type washers when we could find out if it will be necessary to increase the thickness of the cover plate and flange to make a joint.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
