re. EXHAUST HEATING OF THROTTLE & CUTOUT. X9490

Re. the lower ejector, it should be a slight advantage to the engine if it is slowly expanded all its length.

It could be made from the end of the pipe after the flange is fitted so as to avoid eddies in the little annulus which might be noisy. It would also be less costly - avoid double joints. If not practical to expand the pipe perhaps we could make it on the flange or push it in the flange and fasten same time.

One row of holes would be all that is needed, or perhaps just the final small annulus would be the least expensive.

Naturally test if any good at all and make the least expensive, if efficient.

Will the great heat make the little screw loose? Ought the parts to be stainless?

CUTOUT.

There should be a cutout for this engine I think like Goshawk, but with actuating springs so as to keep first valve from vibrating by the pressure variation before and behind the first valve. Works did not make Goshawk as we suggested. Their way may have been easier but is noisy because it has slack in the drive and the spindle cannot be held one way by an external spring. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} said one valve not enough but possibly it might be if fitted at rear of silencer where it was quite cool and could be made a close and good piece of work.
