Re - 103-MC. and attached report from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} (Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}6/LG2.9.25).

The hill climbing demonstration to which I referred, is one given on West Hill, Highgate, with four passengers, including myself, under ordinary demonstration conditions, starting from Conduit Street, and first of all descending the hill, turning round some way beyond the bottom and ascending the hill.

When this Car first came down for demonstration purposes, I was able to finish the climb at a minimum of thirty-two miles per hour. During the demonstration given on Tuesday last, under exactly similar conditions and the same number of passengers, the speed dropped to twenty-five.

I cannot, of course, state whether this difference is caused in any way by the changing of the exhaust system, or whether due to other causes. All I can report is that, from a demonstration point of view, the speed on this hill has considerably diminished to the disadvantage of the Car and, therefore, the climb is not nearly so impressive now as it used to be.

The hill climb is, of course, made with the cut out closed.

Enclosure.
